Synopsis:
Malibu: August, 1983. It’s the day of Nina Riva’s annual end-of-summer party, and anticipation is at a fever pitch. Everyone wants to be around the famous Rivas: Nina, the talented surfer and supermodel; brothers Jay and Hud, one a championship surfer, the other a renowned photographer; and their adored baby sister, Kit. Together, the siblings are a source of fascination in Malibu and the world over-especially as the offspring of the legendary singer, Mick Riva.
By midnight the party will be completely out of control.
By morning, the Riva mansion will have gone up in flames.
But before that first spark in the early hours before dawn, the alcohol will flow, the music will play, and the loves and secrets that shaped this family’s generations will all come bubbling to the surface.
Malibu Rising is a story about one unforgettable night in the life of a family: the night they each have to choose what they will keep from the people who made them . . . and what they will leave behind.
My Review:
Read this book. READ THIS BOOK!🤣 honestly it is just fantastic! I know I am going to have a good time with any Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books, but my gosh, with Malibu Rising she did not disappoint but excelled my expectation! So good!
Set in the course of 24 hours with flash backs from the past, it was a wild ride about the Riva family. How their parents fell in (and out and in and out of) love; how the Riva siblings got to the point now that they were preparing for the most famous party of the year; how eventually a house got burnt down and all secrets and heartbreaks were out in the open.
There were multiple storylines and multiple perspectives throughout the book. The characters came to life for me instantly and I just had so much fun reading it. It was exciting, intoxicating and so unpredictable. You know the feeling where you don’t want a book to end? Yes that’s what happened with Malibu Rising. Just like all her books, it is addictive. I have loved every single minute of reading it. So good!!!
Malibu Rising is out now and thank you so much Hutchinson Books for this copy!
