Today is my stop on the blog tour for The Other You by J.S. Monroe. Wow, what a page runner! I finished it in a few hours in one sitting, it was brilliant!
Is he who you think he is?
Kate used to be good at recognising people. So good, she worked for the police, identifying criminals in crowds of thousands. But six months ago, a devastating car accident led to a brain injury. Now the woman who never forgot a face can barely recognise herself in the mirror.
At least she has Rob. Kate met him just after her accident, and he nursed her back to health in his high-tech modernist house on the Cornish coast. When she’s with him, the nightmares of the accident fade, and she feels safe and loved.
Until, one day, she looks at Rob anew – and knows, with absolute certainty, that he has been replaced by an impostor. Is she right? Have her old recognition skills returned? Or is it all in her damaged mind?
This intricate, original and emotionally charged psychological thriller is perfect for fans of J.P. Delaney and Louise Candlish.
When I was asked if I was interested in reviewing The Other You by J.S. Monroe, I didn’t hesitate at all to say yes! The moment I saw the synopsis I was hooked. I LOVE a physiological thriller like this and it didn’t disappoint!
Whenever I review a thriller, I tend to leave out the details of the story. Because you truly need to experience the turn of events and the twists yourself. To say I was completely “blindsided” was an understatement! In The Other You, there are so many unexpected twists and turns, it really captivated me the whole way through. Even though the book itself was almost 500 pages, it didn’t feel like it at all. It was so fast paced and exciting. I flew through this book in no time at all.
I also loved how the story was told in three different perspectives. It gave the readers the opportunity to think, digest and question the events happened so far and gradually led them to draw their own conclusions. I love the guessing part of reading a thriller and J.S. Monroe has me guessing from the beginning to the end!
What I also loved most about The Other You was how this story gave me the chills, how creepy it felt at times and how uncomfortable it made me feel while I was reading it. It was brilliant!
Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed The Other You by J.S. Monroe. It was skilful and captivating. Highly recommended!
