Book Review

A Couple of Quick Reviews: The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley and The Nordic King by Karina Halle

The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley

4 out of 5 amazing stars

Beautiful, emotional, so romantic, so well written, so well researched, it leaves you wanting more and more. It makes you appreciate the fact that a book should be written like this, all books should be written like this! This is what Susanna’s books do to you. It makes you appreciate books, appreciate well researched and beautiful written books.

All Susanna’s books have this kind of haunting feel and The Winter Sea is no exception to that. I love how the stories alternate between present time and the 18th century. I love how she incorporated historical details into her books and made them become an essential part of the story itself. I love how romantic this story is. It leaves you wanting more. Just like a bottle of red wine, the more you taste it, the more you like it and the more you want it.

It is utterly brilliant. If you are a historical fiction and romance lover, you have to read her books. You are going to fall in love with her beautiful and unique story telling just like I do.

The Nordic King by Karina Halle

2.5 or 3 out of 5 disappointing stars

2.5-3 stars… UNPOPULAR OPINION. This is an enjoyable read and you get all you want from a sexy contemporary romance, brooding sexy man, spiky and beautiful heroine, lots of sex scenes etc. BUT… I was so looking forward to something more from Karina. I like her previous books but this one just felt so predictable… I honestly know what lines are going to come up before even reading it; there are many cringe worthy and cliche moments in the story. I really want to enjoy it but I find myself losing interest pretty fast 😦 It’s one of those stories and scenarios being done so many times before and this one just felt short and very predictable.
