A Few Mini Reviews

Hello all! It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted here. I was travelling in Asia for the last few weeks visiting families. While I was doing that strangely I was in the mood for romantic reads, so I read quite a few romances 😀 I thought I would do some mini reviews of the few books I read over the last few weeks.

By the way, make sure you follow me on IG and Twitter as I update on those platforms on daily basis.

Seek by Mia Sheridan (4 out of 5 stars)

Synopsis:

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She’s even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide–a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn’t necessarily the thing you find.

THIS IS A STANDALONE SOLSTICE NOVEL. Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Mini Review:

I devoured this book in one sitting. I am utterly and completely in love with it!

How can you not love Mia Sheridan? Honestly she is the queen of romance and I have loved every single one of her book. I knew I would love Seek even before I started it. Mia never disappoints us. I will read her book till the end of time.

Seek has everything I love in a romance. The cold and brooding hero but under that hard exterior he has the biggest and kindest heart; the sweet and loveable heroine who will do anything for the hero. I love every minute of it. This book is romantic, adventurous, heart-breaking and hot. It is a relatively short read and I highly recommend it.

Now, I need to next book in this series!!! Maybe a book about Josh? I cannot wait!!

Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey (4 out of 5 stars)

Synopsis:

After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing…

Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice.

My Mini Review:

I finished Getaway Girl in one single sitting and it is such a fun and sexy contemporary romance!

This is my first book by Tessa Bailey and let me tell you I have become such a big fan. I just love the way she writes the story, it is humorous, it is sexy, it is steamy but most of all she has written two very loveable characters that have become so dear to my heart.

I am getting the paperback because I need this on my shelf. I just love it so much!

Crux Untamed by Tillie Cole (3 out of 5 stars)

Synopsis:

Valan ‘Hush’ Durand and Aubin ‘Cowboy’ Breaux have finally found a home in the mother chapter of the Hangmen. The notoriously private Cajun twosome have, for now, put aside what chased them from their beloved Louisiana. But as threats toward the club build, Hush and Cowboy are given a task—protect Elysia Willis at all costs. Cowboy welcomes the job of watching over the blond-haired, blue-eyed beauty. Hush fights against it.

Scarred by events from his past and a secret that plagues his everyday life, Hush refuses to let anyone else get close. Only Cowboy knows the real him. Until a certain sister of the club’s VP begins to slowly knock down his defenses, shattering the heavily built walls that guard his damaged soul . . . with his best friend leading the charge.

As lost and open hearts begin to meld, taking each other from indescribable pain to the never-before felt relief of peace, the newly-mended threesome must first endure one more rocky path.

Only then will they finally shake free of the shackles of their pasts.

Only then will they shed the bonds that have for too long held their happiness captive.

And there is only one way to survive that path . . . together.

Dark Contemporary MFM Romance. Contains scenes of violence and sexual situations. Over 18’s only.

My Mini Review:

This is the 6th book in the Hades Hangman series by Tillie Cole. Another very solid read from Tillie. Hangman is one of my favourite series so I had quite a high expectation for this book. I think the reason I give it only 3 stars is because I do expect a little bit more from Tillie to make us connect more with the characters; and I do expect it to be a little bit less predictable. I think the storyline is very similar to the previous few books… anyways, I still enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one!

Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley (3 out of 5 stars)

Synopsis:

Lanie Heron isn’t looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club…

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She’s too polished and too classy for his tastes. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can’t say no. And he doesn’t regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that’s ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

My Mini Review:

Ugh I have a love hate relationship with this book!

I love love love KA books. She is my go to romance author and I genuinely enjoy every single one of her books. She writes the most incredible alpha males ever so I am addictive to anything that she writes. But this one… I just have a love hate relationship with it.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love this book. I love the hero Hop, he is so brooding and badass and I just love him so much. I think my issues are with the heroine Laine… it’s very rare for me not to connect with a heroine by KA, they always tend to be very loveable. But I think it’s because of the heroine’s self doubts and the uncertainty towards Hop that makes me quite anxious. In addition, all the back and forth arguing if they should be together or not makes me kind of bored and by the end I was ready to say “enough!”. The last 30% where they had their flights was good as finally Hop was getting to Laine that they should be together. And I was like “thank goodness! Finally!!!”

Anyways, I feel bad to give it 3 stars but overall I still enjoy it but not as much as other KA books…
